Scorpions- live in Poland 2009 ( Tv show) :
New live TV show from Scorpions, the shipyard at Gdansk, poland. in june. 4th. 2009. A really good show for almost one hour with many cameras everywhere, the stage is big ( two screen on each side and one in the middle). The place is well known ( remenber the last show of david glimour) to accommodate a big crowd. The band is in really good health, Schenker has still the rock star 's attitude, good vibe from the drumer james Kotak ( did he take a red bull before playing ?).Nothing about the set list, many old titles from "love at first sting"....They even played an encore, one additional song " wind of change".....of course, we are in the East.
Winger / Slaughter: unplluged :
Not top quality image, short set but u can appreciate the level of the bands.
Saber Tiger- live nostalgia ( official import 2002) :
If u like this metal band from japan u will like that show. The sound is good (mostly for guitars) and the image clear ( better when it's blue lights). The musicians are statics but the stage is not very wide.
Loudness-the soldier just come back :
Big show in Japan, very nice image.
Billy Squier-live in the dark
Magnum- the wings of heaven 1988 :
Live taken from laserdic with a good image.
Monster of metal vol I : Good idea to get this dvd full of videos. The sound is very powerfull. Nice videos of Masterplan with "enlighted me", basic one with Hypocrisy "rosewell 47", Sinister "leviathan" or from live such as Dimmu Borgir "puritana" and some good surprise with Therion and his melodic " alone"....Some bonus with with live video of Destruction....Not a must but some good videos to watch.
Smashing Pumpkins- If all goes wrong (2008) : First, nice menu. Secondly, the image of the documentary ( 105 mn) is very good for the quality but boring if u don't like too much the band and in this import ( zone 1) there is no subtitle. The interest is the other dvd with the shows.Great image and sound ( even if the blue color gives u a eyestrain at the beginning), but the music becomes more interesting when the guitars are played, better when the sound is heavy, better when the symbiosis between the musicians is palpable "blues skies bring tears" or the long intro of "superchrist".....
Foreigner: Alive & Rockin' (official) :
Hum, i've bought this dvd but it doesn't play on my dvd player. Just on my blue-ray??? Nonetheless, the show ,recorded at The bang u head Festival ( so in open air) in 2006, is quiet good.Big stage ( with many lights even during tha day) and the musicians are moving a lot ( respect due to their age) and looks happy to be there ( it's not Nirvana). The image is very deep, clear and the cameras are used wittingly , the show is not boring at all. It's a job to realise a montage dvd.The set list is a hit collection: "double vision", "cold as ice" "feels like the first time", "head games".......Suppléments : Interview: Mike Jones (6 mn), Kelly Hansen(15mn40), Jason Boham(2mn43) Foregner TV(6mn20) but u have no subtitle....funny to see Jason in 2008, change so much from the 80's......
Demon Kogure: Demon's Rock show ! (2007 Avex entertainment) : I don't know why but the image is in 4:3 on my Blue-ray player. The music is only in stereo and no subtitle ( and he speaks a lot to the audience). I bought the dvd because many people said it 's a great hard rock 's band ( but in fact the music is very soft, rock with keyboards). It's true that the visuals is particular, but the light show is so so, everybody is static (where is the rock's spirit ?).The melodic line is always the same, i miss relief, the vibe is away. I don't recommend that show except if u're japanses or know the product before.
Nirvana- live sold out ! ( 2006) : Fans likely would rather have Live! Tonight! Sold Out!! (first released on VHS in 1994 but released in dvd by Geffen records) represent Cobain . Primarily culled from the band’s 1991-1992 tours, the various interview are the most valuable part of the dvd because the live document are not very good, just interesting for fans ( sometimes they have a really punk's underground sound, not the most exciting in dvd for me).The visuals is the same, they were exactly what I expected , runny, messy ( often taken from TV or own videos). Yes, u have supplements with that live performance in Amsterdam ( Hum !!!) with 5 songs and with a better video quality than the rest ( very rare , normally bonus are not very exciting).3about a girl" is still rockin', but the band is too inert for me ( except dave) and with basic spotlights, the show is not very entertaining , better to listen ! In my opinion....of course.
Alice Cooper: brutality show ( official) : New dvd from Mr Fournier, recorded in Uk in 2000 during the " brutal planet tour".Really good sound with many option ( DD, 5.1 & dts).U can note that Eric singer ( KISS) is behind the drum.Even if the time is here, Alice has still a correct voice ( for how many times, if u see his friend Ozzy in 2008), well good point these titles from 80's "feed my frankenstein" or "poison" ( i don't know why he plays always the same titles on dvd " no more mr nice guy etc....); well all the full gimicks are here ( with his daughter) and it's well done. The bonus (one video) are not interesting , but the show is sufficient to buy this dvd.
Alice Cooper -trashes the world (official video) 1989 : This dvd is highly recommended. Because the show is good, because it's for the "trash" tour ( an album with many hits such as "poison").The satge is not very big but the déco is correct ( big kit for the drummer), the image is clear, many cameras from all the sides. As far as work is concerned, nothing to say.Of course, some of u will find some gimmicks puerile, but just remenber we are in 80's.Nice set list "trash", "house of fire" ( a title which has had his day) but it miss many titles from "Trash", that's why it's not the best dvd of Alice ( too short ).
